I am not a morning person. I had trained myself to become one, but given the pandemic, I have reverted to my old ways. In order to get my butt out of bed and to my computer for the start of the work day, I very much need both my phone and my alarm clock blaring at me. But, even if you don’t need two alarms in the morning I think it’s well established that phones are not good for anyone’s sleep patterns. Therefore, I urge everyone to invest in the humble and slightly antiquated alarm clock.
These days, there are options. You no longer need to rely on an ugly but functional black box with bright red glowing numbers to get you up in the morning. Below are six alarm clocks that your nightstands won’t be embarrassed by to get you moving in the morning.
//1// We’re starting this list with perhaps my favorite. I love how simple and sleek this is. For a digital alarm clock, it doesn’t get more classy or classic than this.
//2// I don’t think there is a clock manufacturer that I am more drawn to than Newgate. They make such eye catching pieces, and this alarm clock is pretty perfect. I love how it manages to be both masculine and elegant.
//3// I think of digital alarm clocks as being slightly more practical than analog versions, but this one with the tripod base and brass face is so fun it really elevates something that could be very utilitarian.
//4// I’m not one to describe inanimate objects as “handsome” but I’m unsure that there is another descriptor that would work better for this piece. Super simple with a high-end brass casing, this clock would pair well with so many different styles.
//5// This is by far the most fun of the alarm clocks included here. I love how sleek and simple this version is. Not everything has to be serious, and this would work just as well in a teen’s bedroom as in an adult’s.
//6// Maybe you don’t want your alarm clock to be the most stand-out piece in your room. This clock is beautiful while remaining understated. You can never go wrong with simple black and white.
Now that the vaccines are rolling out and restrictions are lifting, its time to wake up from this terrible collective dream!
