I like shower curtains. I do understand the appeal of a glass shower door. It’s just that I like easy. And you do have to squeegee the glass door after every single shower if you want to keep it looking good. Now, despite the fact that I said “I like easy” two sentences prior to this one, I don’t personally find this to be a hardship. It takes about ten seconds to do before you get out of the shower. But, I do know some people who do not like this at all and I get it. Showers for a lot of people are a moment of relaxing, and it can be slightly irritating to end the ritual with a chore.
That’s not to say that if I could choose to design a bathroom from scratch that I wouldn’t put in a glass door. But, it is to say that I don’t find the fact that I need to outfit the tub/shower combo in my rental bathroom with a curtain to be a hardship. Shower curtains are a great way to add personality to a space, and there are so many good options out there. I do think there is something to be said about having a plain white waffle weave. They’re classic, spalike, available in a variety of price points, and you will never regret the purchase (in fact, it’s what’s currently hanging in my bathroom as I write this). But, I also think that you can have fun with shower curtains. They’re low-stakes. With my bathroom being a very plain, very white box, I want to inject a little bit of personality in it. So, I’ve been perusing the internet on the hunt for the perfect bathroom textile. Luckily there are a ton to choose from (the abundance of options and indecision, my biggest problem in life).
Oh, and I want to mention, my walls are not tall and I don’t want to reinstall the shower rod in my rental bathroom, but there are a lot of great arguments for an extra tall shower curtain. For my purposes though, I’m looking for a standard 72”x72” (or there about). Below are some of the best I’ve come across, arranged by price.
I actually purchased number one while I was putting together this round-up. It hasn’t arrived, so I’m not sure how it is in person, but being that it has an original price tag of $119, I succumbed to the allure of a great discount and ordered it on the spot. I also love number three. The pattern is so pretty, and the lace trim is unexpected. My other favorite from this batch is number six. I love a classic stripe and the yellow is so happy.
Can I write a post without a CB2 reference? I’m not sure. Number seven is such a great graphic print being both neutral and interesting. Ultimately number eleven was too bright for what I was going for in my space, but I had no idea Hygge and West did shower curtains! Some of their most popular prints are available, and I love them all. I’m not sure that a solid color shower curtain can really be classified as “injecting personality” but I think if you’re going to go solid, number twelve is a perfect shade of green and would really help break up all of the white in my bathroom.
I love linen in all forms. Which is why number thirteen made it on to this list. I love the idea of a linen shower curtain…the material isn’t just for duvets and window curtains! Number fourteen is perhaps a bit more subdued than I wanted, but the border is gorgeous. Number fifteen was my front-runner for a very long time (and I can see myself purchasing it if number one doesn’t work out). I love the texture and the thick fringe trim. And finally, I don’t think that number seventeen is the right mood for my space, but I can see it being an absolute showstopper in the right room.
Fingers crossed that number one turns out to be everything I’m hoping and one more thing can be checked off my apartment to-do list.
